Townhouse Re Dux

The client purchased this townhouse several years ago and recently she decided to extensively remodel it.  The transformation started with the re-plastering of all the walls in a smooth finish.  The interior doors and hardware were replaced and new door casings, baseboards and crown molding added.  We designed a dramatic fireplace mantle that added a strong architectural element.  Custom iron handrails, dark stained walnut hardwood flooring and iron chandeliers and lanterns further contributed to the dramatic makeover.  The two story ceiling height and long windowless side wall in the living / dining room presented a challenge.  This was mitigated by placing a large scaled mirror over the sofa, a bold framed vintage French poster and a tall backed upholstered banquette in the dining area.  Interlined silk curtains and sheers and the terra cotta wall color lend additional warmth and tames the cavernous height of the room. We remodeled the kitchen with terra cotta tile floors, new cabinets and appliances.  The kitchen's European country style cabinetry, furnishings and fabrics compliment the adjacent living room's Old World style.
